About Tim

And last in the series, but certainly not least, the sensational Tim Smart.

Tim Smart is an illustrator who uses pictures to tell stories.
His work is not always a linear narrative but in these cases the images have a cumulative effect where the images and sounds come together as a whole to give the reader a sense of the story.
He feels it is not only the narrative points of the story that are important but conveying a sense of emotion and atmosphere that add an extra layer to the readers' experience of the work.

About Sara

This afternoon's post is on the wonderful Sara Taghdimi.

Born in 1987 in Tehran, Iran, Sara received a BA in Graphic Design from The University of Tehran in 2010 and a Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design in 2011.

She is currently organising and running creative workshops at the Brighton Museum, and is a member of the team involved in opening the “World Stories” exhibition there. She also works as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator with startup companies and groups.

She is mainly interested in narrative image making and her illustration style is based on fairytales and epics. Her illustrations do not always follow a linear narrative, but they try to keep a consistent voice throughout the work folio. She bases the characters on the scenes of the epics, then translates them into her personal visual language to make a new fantasy world.

About Matt

In collaboration with Hurdy Gurdy on the 'I will tell you a story' project, Mr Matt Horan.

Matt is an exotic émigré bibliomaniac who occasionally draws things, and possesses a desire to mask his unremarkable past in a brutally windswept town on the far-flung reaches of civilisation.
An ex-animator, his animated films have been featured in a handful of festivals, winning an occasional award here and there, and stony faced disdain most other times.

His proudest biographical achievement is a tie between incurring the burning hatred of Amanda Palmer at a book signing and invoking the slightly self-aggrandising comment of a Chapman brother.

Matt has a tendency to botch situations that require an arbitrarily formal tone of voice.
